Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar is now playing his most
meaningful innings — saving children’s lives through the Heart
to Heart Foundation, which provides free heart surgeries for
those born with congenital heart disease.
During his 2025 U.S. tour, Gavaskar inspired audiences with
stories from his cricketing journey and his mission to give
children a second chance at life. Speaking before a crowd of
300 in Phoenix, he blended nostalgia, humour, and humanity,
recalling memorable cricket moments and his love for
Bollywood, while championing a cause close to his heart.
With nearly 38,000 lives saved through the Foundation’s
efforts, Gavaskar continues to lead by example — proving that
true greatness lies not just in records, but in changing lives
beyond the pitch.
Legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was honored with the
“Good Human Being Award 2025” by the Good Human Being Index
Foundation at its inaugural ceremony in San Francisco on
September 10. The award recognizes individuals who excel in
their fields while making exceptional humanitarian
contributions.
Gavaskar was celebrated for his work with the Heart to Heart
Foundation, which has screened over 355,000 children and
performed 37,000+ free heart surgeries for those with
congenital heart disease. The event brought together 250
global luminaries, including Nobel laureates and social
leaders, celebrating the union of professional excellence and
compassion-driven impact.
